Barges, Water & Wheels

Well what to do with a lovely autumn day? Go and utilise the National Trust membership and go visit some of the local sites not yet perused by my blue eyes!
So it was off in the car to see Dapdune Wharf and Shalford Mill.
What wonderful sites they are!
First off was Dapdune Wharf.. old smithy's, cottages, cranes and barges being restored. Plus a boat trip to and from Guilford... learning how Guildford was named (golden ford), how prisoners walked a 'hamster wheel' to power a crane, and that Lewis Carroll came to visit his five unmarried sisters in Guilford, caught a cold and died there - a delightful Alice and sister watching the white rabbit statue. Also spotted a couple of pubs that will require further investigation!
Then off to Shalford Mill... an eighteenth century mill, though one has been on the site since before the Doomsday Book, four storeys of wood, cogs, pulleys, ladders and history! Our guide was enthusiastic and I'm sure could have spoken about mills for days!
Gave us a couple of suggestions for other places to visit, noted and to be visited soon!

Tight Shorts, Rucking and Champagne!

Finally managed to upload my pictures of a fabulous afternoon out with Mr S, Miss A and Mr M at the opening double header of the English rugby season last weekend!
Work kindly offered tickets to see the Harlequins v London Irish & Saracens v London Wasps in our Corporate Box and I managed to secure four! Yay me!
So off we all went for an wonderful afternoon of drinking champagne, eating peanuts and crisps whilst watching men is tight shorts running round, tackling, rucking and playing great games of football!
The half time entertainment were the littler versions (about age 7 I think) playing each other... giving it as much as the bigger guys! They also had fireworks at the beginning of each game, wicked! As well as the mascots walking round, no fisty cuffs between the opposing mascots though.
It was also an incredible atmosphere.. hardly any police to be seen, fans from different sides cheering for the others scores, everyone smiling and just a general atmosphere of yay, we're at the rugby watching our teams play! A whole lot different from what I hear about the football matches!
Attached are some photos from the day.. guess which ones are the little uns!

Miss Yo Yo

Haven't written anything about Miss Yo Yo in ages!
So thought I'd share this amusing antidote with you all...
Had some friends over for dinner and we got to talking about the new Cadbury's ad and Foo Fighters new video. So why not power up the PC and have a look at them on YouTube?
The conversation then turned to all the weird, wacky and wow videos that people put up. So we got looking at "talking" cats and Miss Yo Yo got all interested of a sudden in the conversation (had been doing her usual I am more important than thou and going to sit with my back to you all pose).
She cocked her ears forward, looked at the screen and then got all excited and went running, jumping and up on the computer desk, face to face with this cat saying "hello" on the screen. We were cracking ourselves up laughing at her thinking "hello" you say, well bring it on cat on the screen and I'll show you hello!

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Awesome!!!!!
What a fabulous weekend!
Went shopping on Saturday for the Torture Garden Rubber Ball (Mr M, best for you not to look this one up or you'll freak about your darling older sister again), Sunday entailed a scrumptious lunch with Miss S, Mr S and Mr B!
Then we moved on to the highlight of the weekend...
The Chemical Brothers in Trafalgar Square! What an event it was! A balmy London Autumn Evening, 9,000 People, All Dancing, Waving Their Arms About To a Fantastic DJ Set That London is Not Going to Forget for a Long Time!
It must have looked and sounded incredible from above! And the crowds outside (could only hear and not see) had appeared to enjoy themselves too!
Everyone had a smile on their face, didn't see one bit of crime (none reported either), and it sure is an event that I will remember in my 80's!
Even people who we met that didn't really know their DJ-ing were going to purchase some of their music!
The Monday after was a little tough (home at 12:30 and the alarm going off at 7am was most unwelcome!), though managed with a smile from the memories of the night before!
Oh, I also saw Lilly Allen...
