Spring Clean!

Well the crocus and daffodils are up so thought that as I had Friday off for the doctors I'd do a little spring cleaning!
It's amazing how much stuff there is in this little house. Some of it like mugs, plates and glasses I kept. I'm always breaking those so it's good to have a stash. Whilst the tens of bottle openers, alcohol branded items and champagne stoppers I could never really use, and all my friends have been given enough to last them decades!
Also managed to clear out the dubious items I've received over the last two years, someone else is bound to want them... one person's rubbish is another person's treasure I think the saying is.
Decided to also have a look through the clothes... quite scarey to see all the clothes I haven't worn in years. A couple of little belts, er miniskirts, revealing tops, and some hideous shoes buried at the back of the cupboard I'd forgotten about. Also managed to find a few items that were bought and never worn! What is with that? Why did I think at the time ooh I love this and then proceed never to wear it - a black sixties style white polka dot bikini, light purple satin skirt shot through with burgundy and a camisloe and knickers set in dark red and black lace - all never been worn!
I guess I could have done the ebay thing, though I'd rather give it all to the charity shop and the happy expression on the assitant's face when I bought it all in was wonderful!

Gawd Dang It!

I truly lived up to my natural hair colour...
managed to drop my mobile phone and cracked the liquid screen. So no screen equals no numbers!
Have had to send out an SOS email (Tracy did a blonde thing) asking for everyone to send their numbers in. I know I backed up the phone to sim sometime last year... could have been December or it could have been January (more than likely January)! Though a couple of folks have changed details recently and no idea which number is right.
I must say that the return comments are a right laugh though and truly what I deserve!
Guess who's going to be doing the backing up at least once a month from now on!

I am Woman!

Hear me Fence!
Yes, fence! Managed to put up the shared car park fence with Mr S today & it was brilliant!
Yes, Mr S smashed up the concrete, and yes, Mr S did the screwing, nailing and hammering, and yes, Mr S made sure it was all in line...
Though I was there helping lug the panels, the post, holding the nails and brackets, as well as pouring the water for the concrete (a wonderful thing where you fill the hole half full of water, pour in a dry concrete mix, swirl it around a little and ten minutes later you have set concrete - fantastic!) and coming up with a cunning plan to slot in the post when it looked to big to fit the gap!
All that needs to be done now is tidying up the bits of former fence and dirt and bits everywhere and all just for £40!
The next thing will be to get the fence done between the neighbour and ours, though that is definitely going to be done by the Fence Man... after all they run cross the prevailing winds and I'm not sure that our handy work will hold up to that, whilst the car park fencing runs with them!

Stuff!

Well I haven't written for a while... probably because not much is really happening. Apart from the usual day to day things that happen everyday.
Though we did have a nice dumping of snow and some of it actually lasted all day! Was once again wonderful to step out the front door and be the first prints in the so powdery stuff, scrunch scrunching down the road. Though once on the main drag it just turned into a great huge grey slush puppy!
The gym is going well... I'm a little surprised at myself managing to go every workday. Even though it's three days of swimming and two of spin class, I haven't yet given up on it. Probably because it's out of the office for an hour, indulging in a steam and sauna as well as the exercise. The only discouraging thing I can see is that after a month there has been no weight loss - even eating the same, not increasing the amount - just have to hope that it's because my michelin self is turning the fat into muscle. Well that's my story and I'm going to stick to it!
Am also rather pleased that I've managed to book a ticket back home at the end of April. So looking forward to seeing Nana... the letters and telephone calls just aren't enough, I have to say goodbye in person. My Mother made me smile though when Nana asked if I had dreamed of her... she'd dreamt that she was here in London shopping with me - that would just be amazing. Nana and I doing Oxford Street, stopping at various points to indulge in some coffee or even stop off for a glass of champagne! I can imagine her expression at all the weird and wonderful people, buildings and weather! Though being a West Coaster herself I'm sure the weather will be of no surprise to her!
The fence is still down, the bathroom is still a horrendous eyesore, though I have my health, my friends and the future!
